This week has been heavy on behind-the-scenes work that should now be visible across the site. The Manchester page has been rebuilt on our new template, roughly 160 articles have moved to a cleaner layout, and two venues have been logged as permanently closed.
New Manchester city page rebuilt
The Gay Saunas in Manchester page has been rebuilt from scratch on our new city-page template. Faster venue browser, clearer breakdown of what each sauna is actually like, and a short decision matrix to help first-timers pick the right venue for their night. The new layout is already live and is rolling out to other regional pages next.
Done New article layout rolling out
Around 160 articles and magazine posts have been switched to a cleaner article layout over the past week. The new design uses a bolder headline hero, visible tags, an author bio, and a “read next” signpost at the bottom of each piece. The darkroom and glory-hole guide clusters are fully on the new layout; the rest of the article library is being migrated in batches.
Fix Broken internal links repaired
Six broken internal links across five articles were picked up during the template migration and repaired. Nothing major, but if you’d hit a dead end on an article recently, it should now work.
Done Boiler Room Sheffield — permanently closed
The Boiler Room Sheffield page has been rewritten to reflect the venue’s permanent closure. The sauna is no longer trading — confirmed via the venue’s own website. Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, Barnsley, and Chesterfield are now without a dedicated gay sauna in South Yorkshire; the nearest full-scale alternative is Steam Complex in Leeds, around forty minutes up the M1.
Done Redruth Sauna Cornwall — permanently closed
The Redruth Sauna page has been finalised as permanently closed. Cornwall no longer has a dedicated gay sauna. Massage services continue at the same location, but for the full sauna experience the nearest option is now Manticore Spa in Plymouth — around 49 miles from Redruth and the only dedicated gay sauna in the far South West.
